N. Lynn Eckhert

N. Lynn Eckhert is the Director of Academic Programs at Partners HealthCare International. Trained as a pediatrician she is a graduate of SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health where she earned a Master of Public Health and a Doctorate of Public Health. Prior to joining PHI she served at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine as Associate Dean of Admissions, Professor and Chairman of Family and Community Medicine and Dean/Vice Chancellor for International and Public Health Programs. While at the University of Massachusetts Medical School she served as Chairman of the Executive Council and President of the University Hospital Medical staff. Dr. Eckhert has wide ranging experience in health professions education as her career spans the professions of nursing, medicine and public health. She has worked extensively in interprofessional education and has published in this area.

Dr. N. Lynn Eckhert is currently serving as Interim Dean of the Lebanese American University in Beirut and Director of Academic Programs at Partners Healthcare International in Boston. She is Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health, Professor in the Graduate School of Nursing and Adjunct Professor in Public Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and a Senior Lecturer in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. In collaboration with the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Association of Schools of Public Health and the National Institute of Health, she is the Chairman of the selection committee to recommend health professional graduate students for participation in the year-long international health Fogarty Fellowships.

Lynn was the Associate Dean for Admissions, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and Dean/Vice Chancellor for International and Public Health Programs. She also served as Chairman of the school’s Executive Committee, President of the University Hospital medical staff, and Chair of the Credentials Committee at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). She has served on the Board of Trustees of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and as its Chairman from 2001-2004. Lynn also served as a founding board member of the Foundation for the Advancement of Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). She also is a past member of the Composite Committee of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Lynn served on the Council of Academic Societies Administrative Board as its Chairman and on the AAMC Executive Council as the Chairman in 2004-2005. She has also served as the President of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine and a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians.
